CLEVELAND, Ohio – July 21, 2009—Aerodyne, a specialist in solving dry material handling problems, presents the SplitStream™ Dust Collector, which uses centrifugal force to efficiently separate out fine particles beginning at 20 microns. This dust collector can handle dusts such as saw dust, fly ash, sand, coffee and many others. Units range in size from 50 cfm to 18,000 cfm and can be mounted vertically or horizontally.
This cyclonic dust collector easily handles fibrous, sticky, hygroscopic and high temperature materials that would tend to clog or damage filter bags or cartridges. Placed before baghouses or cartridge filters, the SplitStream Dust Collector greatly extends the life of filter media and reduces labor and material costs.
Manufacturers and processors may use the Aerodyne SplitStream™ dust collector as part of a manufacturing process or to meet OSHA standards for dust control in the workplace. Here is how the SplitStream™ works:
- Primary air or gas and dust enter the collector near the base of the unit and are forced upward through the spinner.
- A secondary gas stream is introduced to a manifold at the top of the unit. This air stream moves in a downward spiral opposite the primary gas stream.
- This creates a centrifugal effect that throws the dust particles down to the hopper base where they are collected for disposal or reuse.
- During the dust separation process, clear air or gas is vented through the top of the collector.
The SplitStream™ Dust Collector’s unique design ensures that a minimal amount of dust particulate will come in contact with the collector walls. This feature allows the SplitStream™ Collector to easily handle highly abrasive materials without special anti-abrasive coatings or extra heavy duty construction. This same design feature also allows the SplitStream™ Dust Collector to be installed vertically or horizontally, providing cost-saving flexibility in new or existing applications.
